Classic Spy Camera Munches Cyanide Capsule, Dies At 71 Years Old

The Minox TLX is set to be quietly retired from service. The unsuspecting subminiature camera will be met on a foggy bridge at dawn, where it will be relieved of its last roll of 8x11mm film and swiftly shot between its dials with an umbrella gun.

The reason is, of course, obsolescence. The classic spy cam is no longer miniature -- let alone subminiature -- compared to the average cellphone, and nobody but collectors are buying them. The last few models off the line will be sold for £400 ($790) instead of the normal £900 ($1770). Rumors of a unit signed by Georgi Markov are unconfirmed.
